There's been some delay due to issues with an associated regatta, but the world's longest-running nationals has now been confirmed for 2011/12. It's on the now-traditional Australia Day long weekend at the stunning location of Port Stephens, two hours north of Sydney.
This year's event will take place from Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 January, adjacent to the Salamander Shores hotel at Soldiers Point. The Salamander will be base for the event, which is hosted by the Corlette Point Sailing Squadron.
As always, there will be events for Junior One Designs, and (subject to entries) a Silver Fleet for new sailors or rusty sailors, and a sub-class for classic fixed-daggerboard original boards.
The Notice of Race will be out next week and from then on we'll be hassling Aussie sailors to head up there for a classic weekend of real Windsurfing. This year the target is to beat the recent record of 57 entries and make it 60+ entries, so this will be one great regatta!
