Word is that up to 30 NSW sailors will be heading down south to beautiful Sorrento on Port Phillip Bay to join the Queenslanders and Victwegians for the 2011 Nationals. There should be a strong contingent of Youth and Juniors (they normally make up 25% of the fleet these days) from the Manly 16 Foot Skiff Club, one of the hottest small-boat clubs in Australia. They will be lead by Annaliese Gilbert, who just won the selection trials as the Girls Windsurfing rep for the ISAF Youth Worlds.
The nationals will be held at the Sorrento Sailing and Couta Boat Club from 24 to 27 January 2011. The original Windsurfers that everyone has in their backyard (drop-in daggerboards, blue masts and dacron sails) can still race and perform very well in light winds, so there's an easy way to get back into the One Design way of life.
